Dutch Environmental Indicator for Pesticides (Risk)
The Dutch Environmental Indicator for pesticides (NMI) estimates the potential environmental impact of pesticides used in Dutch agriculture. The NMI calculates emissions to air, surface water, and groundwater. Also, the NMI calculates potential acute and chronic effects in the soil of treated fields, in the adjacent surface water courses, and to terrestrial organisms feeding on treated fields.
The NMI-database contains detailed spatial input data, average pesticide use and information on application techniques, leaching coefficients and other emission factors, and fate - and ecotoxicological data for all pesticides registered at the Dutch market.
The NMI is developed for evaluation of the current plant protection programme of the Dutch Government.
